All he wanted for Christmas,
All he desired,
All he dreamed of,
Was to be by your side,
To be with you,
To care for you,
To love you,
Even if it was still soon,
All he wanted for Christmas,

Was how happy he actually felt,
After so many years,

Was something that couldn’t be given,
As a material thing,

Just something that you cannot measure,
Just something that he wanted to hold onto,
Something he could believe in again,
He thought he might have found the one,
Found the one to call home,
But now you are gone,
And I am here,
Trying to help him piece together,
What happened,
The why,
The how,
The pain that is there,
The pain that his heart feels,
The numbness,
All he wanted for Christmas was you,
You were the one he wanted as a gift,
He would have not cared for anything else,
But now you have tossed that away,
Tossed it like it meant nothing,
And I am here,
Picking up the pieces,
As I have done before,
Of the broken heart you caused,

And walked out on him.
